Social and labor relations in Ukraine are regulated by national and international law.
The Constitution of Ukraine defines the basic rights and freedoms of the citizens of Ukraine in particular in the sphere of social and economic relations.
The Laws of Ukraine regulate such important items as minimum salary, working hours, functioning of the social partners, minimum social standards, functioning of the obligatory state social insurance funds, etc.
The Decrees of the President of Ukraine stipulate the certain aspects of the functioning of the system of social and labor relations in particular the institutional basis. For example the Decrees of the President define the rights and responsibilities of the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council, National Service for Mediation and Reconciliation, etc.
The Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine define the mechanisms of the implementation of the legislations in particular in the sphere of social and labor relations. For example the Resolution of the Cabinet of Minister stipulates the list of the professions that have the right for the additional vacation and increased tariffs of wages due to the dangerous conditions of work, functioning of the State Committee for the supervision of the labor conditions.
Another category of the acts – acts that are issued by the authorized bodies in the sphere of the regulation of social and labor relations, Orders of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, funds of obligatory state insurance system, State Committee for the supervision of the labor conditions, etc.
One more part of the legislation is norms of the international law in the sphere of social and labor relations that are stipulated in the majority of cases by the Conventions and Recommendations of the International Labor Organization. If the procedure of ratification is observed than the norms of international law become part of the national legislation. Though even if the international legal acts are not ratified they can influence substantially the national legislation and the development of the social and labor relations.
