Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – is a voluntary initiative of the company owner or the founder of the organization on the development and realization of definite socially-oriented unprofitable measures that are aimed at the qualitative improvement of the internal environment of the company or organization.
Corporate Social Responsibility is possible subject to the achievement of a stable development of independent and responsible companies and organizations that meet their long-term interests, promote the achievement of social peace, security, welfare of citizens, maintenance of the environment, adherence to the human rights.
The implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility must be resulted subject to the state’s and its appropriate authorities’ non-interference into the operative company’s activity. The excessive regulation of such activity deprives the Corporate Social Responsibility of the voluntariness spirit, socially-oriented activity of company or organization.
One of the ways of the development and regulation of Corporate Social Responsibility’s activity is the dialogue between state, public organizations and representatives of business. That’s why policy of social responsibility may be worked out and implemented as the result of social dialogue; and in this process the key role belongs to the employers’ organizations.
The Confederation actively participates in owners’ protection concerning the management of CSR and forming of the adequate reaction on the defiance of trade unions, local associations and authorities.
Supporting and being guided in its activity by the world principles in human rights, labour relations, environmental protection and combating corruption the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine adhered to the UN Global compact.
At the end of 2007 year representative of the Confederation was elected out of the industrial sector of Ukraine for participation on the project of ISO 26000 standard on social responsibility.
